Logging without a review is expensive note taking. This template turns a week of fills into a scorecard, a few autopsies, and one or two constraints you can check on Monday. It is a process, not a promise of profit.
Quick answer
Block 45 to 60 minutes on the same day each week. Many traders use Sunday evening America/New_York, or Monday before the Asia session. Pull the numbers first. Write the story second.
- Prep, about 5 minutes. Filter closed trades since the last review. Note open risk.
- Scorecard, about 10 minutes. Net after fees and funding, plus leverage and rule breaks.
- Autopsy, about 15 minutes. Two wins and two losses: repeat, ban, or resize.
- Process, about 10 minutes. Sessions, revenge size, and plan skips, from tags only.
- Constraints, about 10 minutes. One to three rules you can audit next week.
Five crypto checks, every week:
- Result before costs versus result after fees and funding.
- Session split: Asia, London, New York, and the weekend.
- Max leverage, and any note on liquidation proximity.
- Coin concentration and correlated alt risk.
- Rule break count, not a vague "I felt off."
Why the glance fails
A green week is not a clean week. The common miss is celebrating the headline, skipping losers because the market ripped, and raising size. Funding, fees, and correlation show up later. Do the cost and process checks before you trust the headline number.
Agree on two bookkeeping rules and write them at the top of the template.
- R is fixed dollar risk per planned stop, or percent of equity at entry. Do not switch mid week.
- Partials are either one merged trade or child rows under a parent id. Mixed methods wreck the scorecard.
If the week has fewer than about 10 closed trades, still run the ritual. Prefer the autopsies and a hard risk cap. Do not invent a session edge from a thin sample.
What to pull before you write
Closed trades for the week, plus open positions.
- Realized result, fees, and funding, kept as separate lines. Net is realized minus fees, with funding signed carefully. If the tool does not split funding, export exchange history and label estimates.
- Session from entry time. Keep the windows fixed: Asia, London, New York, overlaps, weekend.
- Net result by BTC, ETH, majors, and other alts. Three correlated alts are often one bet.
- Setup tags and mistake tags. If you only have adjectives, add a closed list: overleverage, funding ignore, revenge size, late chase, no stop, plan skip.
The agenda
Scorecard
One screen is enough: trade count, result after fees and funding, fee drag, funding, max leverage, rule breaks, best session, worst session. Under it, one sentence: what made the week, and whether the process was clean.
Autopsy
Use the two largest wins and two largest losses, in R or in quote currency. Pick one unit and stick to it. For each: setup, whether you followed the written plan, whether fees or funding mattered, and whether you would take the same size again. Do not rewrite history. Compare what you wrote at entry with what you did.
Process
Answer from tags, in one short paragraph. How many revenge or size up trades? Did you trade a banned session? Did notes show a skipped plan? Then stop. This is not a therapy session.
Next week
Constraints must be checkable.
Good: max 5x on alts. No new risk from Saturday 00:00 through Sunday 18:00 ET. If the day hits the loss limit, stop.
Bad: be more disciplined. Only A plus setups, unless A plus is defined.
Carry open risk forward: funding on holds, the calendar, and correlated exposure. Cap new rules at three. If you add one, retire one.
Crypto lenses
Split the week into price result and funding result. If funding dominates, the lesson may be hold rules, not entry rules.
Log max leverage and whether price came inside your distance to liquidation, even if you were not liquidated. A near miss with optional size is a process miss.
If you traded the same pair on two venues, check the second venue after fees. Duplicate hedges can look like more trades and hide a flat book.
Tag news or narrative trades and review them as their own group.
Mistake to rule
Use this when the autopsy names a pattern. One row becomes one constraint. Do not add a second rule for the same miss.
| Mistake | What you saw | Next week |
|---|---|---|
| Overleverage | Max leverage above the cap | Hard cap until four clean weeks |
| Funding ignore | Funding erased a flat week | No hold through funding without a written edge |
| Revenge size | Size up after the first loss | Stop, or minimum size only, after the daily loss |
| Weekend | Losses in thin books | Flat by a set Friday time unless the hedge is written |
| Correlated alts | Several longs, one beta | One alt expression, shared size |
| Venue churn | One venue paid, the other paid the fees | One venue for scalps |

Tools
You can run this in Google Sheets or Notion. Crypto journals such as TradeStream, CoinMarketMan, and Hyerlo, or multi asset tools such as TradesViz, Tradervue, TraderSync, and TradeZella, can speed the filters. Confirm what each one actually calculates before you rely on it.
Hyerlo is a live crypto trading journal. Bring trades in with read only API sync for Phemex, Bybit, and Binance Futures, CSV import for Hyperliquid, Bybit, Binance USDM, and a generic template, or manual entry. Review with tags and notes, a trades dock and charts, a calendar, and dashboard widgets for results, drawdown, hit rate, fees split between trading and funding, streaks, and overtrading. Try it at hyerlo.com. Docs: hyerlo.com/docs. You do not need Hyerlo to use this template. Hyerlo does not include AI insights, and it does not write the review for you.
Frequently asked questions
How often should I review?
A weekly deep review, plus a 2 to 5 minute note at the end of the day on rule breaks. Scalpers may add a shorter daily scorecard. Still keep the weekly pass so patterns across days show up.
What belongs in a crypto weekly review?
Result after fees and funding, session and pair splits, leverage and liquidation proximity, setup and mistake tags, autopsies of the largest wins and losses, and written constraints for next week.
Daily or weekly for perps?
Both, at different depth. Daily is for open risk and rule breaks. Weekly is for expectancy, funding, and session edge. Daily only chases noise. Weekly only misses leverage mistakes while they are still open.
