What to capture for a futures journal

Aim for closed trade rows with time, symbol, side, price, size, fees, and realized PnL. Funding often lives in a separate history. Deposits and withdrawals are wallet events, not trade rows. Open position unrealized PnL does not belong in a closed-trade journal import.

Wanted field Typical Phemex area Usually in a trade CSV?
Fills / closed PnL Contract or futures history reports Yes, when you export the right report
Trading fees Fee fields inside trading reports Often yes
Funding Separate funding or income history when offered Often no
Deposits / withdrawals Deposit and withdraw reports No
Open PnL Positions No

Export from Phemex (official report paths)

Phemex documents several CSV report generators. For futures style books, prefer contract trade account history. Spot Trade History is the wrong feed for a perps journal.

Contract / futures style report

From Phemex help center guidance on account statements and reports:

  1. Sign in on the web.
  2. Open Funds History.
  3. Select Contract Trade Accounts.
  4. Choose Generate History Report.
  5. Set the period and symbols (All when you want the full book).
  6. Wait until the report is ready, then download the CSV.

If you also need Spot for a separate book, Phemex documents Spot History → Trade History → Generate History Report as its own flow. Keep Spot and contract files apart in Hyerlo.

Tax reporting style bulk download

Phemex also has a Tax Reporting / Account Reports area with a one-click transaction history download aimed at tax partners. That file can be broad (spot, futures, deposits, withdrawals). For a clean trading journal, prefer the contract history report when you only want futures fills. If you use the tax bundle, expect more mapping work and more non-trade rows to ignore.

Phemex notes generation limits on some report tools (the tax reporting FAQ mentions up to 20 generations per month). Do not spam regenerate.

Repeat per subaccount when Phemex keeps them separate, so each Hyerlo account stays clean.

Upload into Hyerlo

  1. Open CSV import.
  2. Upload the Phemex file through the generic CSV path (no named Phemex preset today).
  3. Map time, market or symbol, side, price, size, fee, and realized PnL in the preview.
  4. Confirm and finish.
  5. Tag the account as Phemex so multi-account widgets stay readable.

{/* screenshot: trades dock after first Phemex import */}

Duplicate protection helps on overlapping periods. Still name files with the date range you requested.

After import

Use the trades dock and full charting for review. Add tags, notes, setups, and themes. Check the calendar. Read PnL, drawdown, hit rate, trading vs funding fees, streaks, and overtrading widgets once the data supports them. Hide values when you share your screen.

Named CSV presets today cover Hyperliquid, Bybit, Binance USDM, and generic. Phemex uses the generic CSV path until a preset ships. Autosync for Phemex is coming; Binance Futures already autosyncs with a read-only key.

Pitfalls

Pitfall Fix
Spot history in a perps journal Export Contract Trade Accounts history instead.
Tax bundle with deposits mixed in Filter to trade rows or use the contract report.
Skipping funding Export funding separately when you need net carry cost.
Subaccounts combined One report and one Hyerlo account each.
Assuming a Phemex preset Use generic mapping; presets cover other venues.
Waiting for autosync CSV works now; autosync is coming.

Sample workflow for Phemex CSV

  1. Pick a closed month you still care about.
  2. Generate the Contract Trade Accounts history report for that month.
  3. Download the CSV and open it once in a spreadsheet to confirm futures symbols and realized fields exist.
  4. Upload through Hyerlo generic CSV import and map columns carefully the first time.
  5. Save a mental note (or a personal checklist) of which source column mapped where, so the next month takes minutes.
  6. Add setups for the month’s main ideas. Themes help when the same narrative repeats across symbols.
  7. Review drawdown and hit rate before you decide the month was “fine.”

If Phemex report generation is rate limited for your account, batch the months you still need instead of clicking Generate twenty times in a day.

Mapping tips for generic CSV

When there is no named preset, the preview is the product.

  • Map timestamps first. Wrong time zones scramble the calendar.
  • Map symbol or contract next so BTCUSDT and BTCUSD never blend.
  • Map side using the exchange’s buy/sell or long/short labels without creative rewriting.
  • Map size and price in the units the file already uses. Do not hand convert contracts mid-import.
  • Map fee and realized PnL when present. Empty fee columns mean the fees widget will understate trading costs until you fix the file.

If a column is ambiguous, leave it unmapped rather than guessing. You can enrich with notes after the fills land.

Manual entry

Base is $0 forever for manual trades only. Log by hand when a report is still generating, or when you want a note on a trade the CSV will never explain.

Pricing

  • Base: $0 forever, manual only
  • Breakout: $15/mo ($11 launch), 3 autosync accounts
  • Expansion: $30/mo ($22 launch), unlimited autosync
  • Launch pricing: first 100 members or until Dec 31 2026
